As both a Stitcher and Alterations Manager at Broadway Costumes I have worked on a wide breadth of costume and garments. This work includes tailoring, repairing, and adjusting design to client request. This also includes project management work: organizing build projects to create new costumes and accessories for rental use.
As a stitcher for Chicago Mascot company I worked on a variety of projects including shoes, accessories, and fursuits. This work included design and pattern development as well as construction.
This was a collaborative project as part of my Senior Capstone at Columbia College. Working with local designer Christina Karin, a small team of peers and I designed and developed blouse and belt designs. I worked on designing, sourcing local materials and creating factory-ready tech packs and renderings of the pieces.
This top and skirt were made to represent the idea of becoming one with the wind. The natural takes over the manufactured as the structured pant and shirt mold into free flowing extensions of the body. All fabrics were hand-dyed with natural dyes, and fabric treatment was done with hand embroidery.
This garment and headpiece were inspired by Anne Hamilton-Byrne's cult called "The Family". Tapping into the effects of psychedelics on children and ideas of unified and manufactured identity, this garment was hand-dyed and sewn by me. It's meant to completely blur the identity and visuals of the wearer, much like the children of Anne's group.Â
